Symbolism

Shield.  Red symbolizes the mission of locating, disrupting, and destroying the enemy through fire and maneuver.  White indicates that the vessel is unmanned, alluding to excellence in warfighting innovation.  The division of the shield suggests the bow of vessel on an expeditionary mission in a contested environment.  The pallets stand for the numerical designation of the Squadron and are colored white to denote outstanding success in world-wide engagements.  Cerberus embodies the ferocity of the command while its black coloring is a reminder of the chaotic and unpredictable warfighting domain at sea.

Crest.  The wreath adopts the first-named metal and color from the shield and blazon.  The crossed swords symbolize the warfighter spirit. The surface warfighting ship cutting through the ocean alludes to the Surface Warfare insignia and is a reminder of the qualifications required of U.S. Navy personnel who are trained and qualified to perform duties aboard United States surface warships.

Supporters.  The crossed halberds symbolize the expeditionary mission’s extended reach of unmanned vessels in the warfighting domain.

Motto.  The Squadron’s motto, “VICTORY THROUGH FEROCITY,” honors the aggressive determination of the warfighter spirit.  The two stars denote Squadron Three as the second command on the Pacific coast that has been stood up for unmanned surface vessels.
